Job summary

Mastronardi Produce Ltd. in New York is seeking a packer to prepare produce for shipment by packing into containers, sealing, labeling and following grade standards. You will work in a refrigerated warehouse and must maintain cleanliness while meeting productivity goals and safety requirements.

This role requires careful handling to prevent bruising, a willingness to learn product knowledge, and the ability to make quick decisions under supervision while standing or walking for long periods.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn and retain product and customer knowledge.
• Ability to make critical decisions quickly and repeatedly.
• Manual dexterity to work with hands for the shift.
• Must be able to stand/walk for an extended time.
• Good motor skills and eye/hand coordination.

Responsibilities

• Pack product into containers and seal and label properly.
• Understand produce grade standards and maturity characteristics.
• Handle produce carefully to prevent bruising or damage.
• Meet packing productivity standards set by Supervisor.
• Clean and sanitize the packhouse.
• Meet packing standards set out by Grading Supervisor, Line Leads and QC.
• Follow food safety, OH&S and Operations policies and procedures.
• Identify safety concerns and communicate with supervisor accordingly.
• Perform any other tasks as directed by supervision.
• Previous experience in produce or warehouse environment preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in varying temperatures that can be cool to hot.
• Must be capable of frequently lifting up 30 lbs.
• Position requires standing and walking for the entire shift
• Environment includes a refrigerated warehouse, where the temperature averages 50F and noise approaches 70 dcbs.
