Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced foreman to lead field crews on highway heavy civil projects. You will supervise on-site activities, interpret plans, and manage schedules, ensuring safety and quality on every task.

The role requires at least 5 years in a foreman/supervisor position, travel flexibility, and strong adherence to OSHA standards. You will work with power tools and heavy equipment in all weather conditions as part of a team focused on delivering critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years as a foreman/supervisor in highway heavy civil construction.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and practices.
  • Must be familiar with heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-power tools.
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb and periodically lift up to 50lbs.
  • Positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization are crucial.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as a top priority on every site.
  • Provides on-site supervision and direction to crew members.
  • Familiar with project specifications and ability to understand plans.
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Ensure crew time cards are filled out and submitted weekly.
  • Fill out daily foreman reports.
  • Analyze and resolve issues that may arise unexpectedly.
  • Explain and understand survey and grade staking (Lasers, Transits, and GPS).
  • Manage all excavating activities for your crew.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
