Position Overview:
The Central Falls School District seeks to hire a talented, knowledgeable, and highly innovative certified educator to fill the special educator position at Veterans Memorial Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provide daily instruction based on the Common Core Standards, the Central Falls School District’s Curriculum, and each assigned Student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Will Implement, develop, and manage students, and all of their provided services, including assigned Individualized Education Program (IEP) in accordance with all State and Federal Regulations.
General Duties
- Coordinate and implement service delivery with general educators, related services providers, support staff, other special educators, and building administrators focusing mostly on a co teaching model.
- Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for students, including language development adaptations for ELLs.
- Cooperatively plan and teach with other educators.
- Assess progress, maintain documentation, monitor student learning/progress, and report as specified in the plan (MTSS, 504, Service, IEP, etc).
- Accommodate the needs of students in various educational environments as indicated per IEP
- Utilize instructional materials, including the implementation of technology-based interventions that coordinate with district curricula accommodations and modifications to implement instruction that addresses students’ goals and skills needs while providing access to grade-level content
- Provide appropriate and needed instruction supports and intervention in order to help students to meet their academic goals accommodating the needs of students in various educational environments as indicated per students’ identified academic goals/needs.
- Collaborate with students, families, and educational teams to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Federal and State Regulations.
- Coordinate/conduct educational re-evaluations, progress reports, and timelines with general educators, related service providers, support staff, other special educators, and building administrators.
- Utilize instructional materials, including the implementation of technology-based interventions that coordinate with district curricula accommodations and modifications to implement instruction that addresses students’ goals and skills needs while providing access to grade-level content.
- Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and personal well-being of all students.
- Maintain and use adaptive/assistive technology as needed.
- Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for students, including language development adaptations for ELLs.
- Follow all RIDE regulations related to ELL Students with Disabilities, including determining if ELLs with disabilities are eligible to continue as ELL or to exit from their ELL status and completing and distributing all related paperwork.
- Ability to understand, analyze and evaluate information, document students’ reading progress (IRLA, STAR and other assessments ) and make connections among multiple factors, data points, ideas, learning styles, personalities, and potential solutions to make the best decision possible.
- Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and personal well-being of all students.
- Communicate with families regularly to discuss student performance, attendance, progress, etc. via phone calls, emails, written correspondence

Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Rhode Island Teaching Certificate in Special Education for Elementary required
- Valid Rhode Island Teaching Certificate in ESOL, or the willingness to become emergency certified and complete certification within three years.
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
