Overview

Grade 5/math science Elementary Teacher position at Hillsborough County Public Schools.

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within an elementary school.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement instruction of content areas/courses in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students based on respect and rapport.
  • Deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching practices to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance, monitor assessment data, and maintain grades and attendance.
  • Manage classroom behavior with effective strategies and disciplinary procedures when needed.
  • Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
  • Ensure health and safety of students and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and data.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education.
  • Language skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; responds to inquiries from employees or the public; writes and presents effectively.
  • Mathematical skills: Works with math concepts and applies fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Reasoning ability: Solves practical problems with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office.
