Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Massachusetts teaching license required.
• Prior elementary teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching or working with upper elementary students preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and community members.
• Strong organizational, reflective, and data-analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction across the 5th grade curriculum.
• Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support and challenge for all learners.
• Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom community.
• Collaborate with 5th grade colleagues, specialists, and other Thoreau team members.
• Use student data and ongoing assessment to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.
• Integrate technology to support teaching and learning.
• Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings, professional learning, and collaborative planning.
• Support Thoreau’s commitment to student voice, leadership, belonging, and community.
