Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools – John W. Tolbert Jr. Elementary School, Leesburg, VA, is seeking a Grade 5 Teacher to design and deliver instruction aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. The role emphasizes assessment, differentiation, and collaboration with families and staff.

You will work with a diverse student population, support social and academic growth, and contribute to LCPS professional learning communities to continuously improve teaching practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in an appropriate subject area.
• Demonstrated knowledge of elementary content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching.
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents.
• Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements authentic learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum.
• Personalizes instruction based on student needs.
• Assesses student growth relative to goals and outcomes.

• Monitors and supports behavior in instructional settings and during transitions.
• Collaborates with colleagues, students, parents, and the community to promote learning.
• May direct work of teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers.
• Participates in the school’s professional learning community to deepen curriculum understanding.
