Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking a Grade 4 Teacher (1-year appointment) at Horace Mann Laboratory School in Salem, MA. The teacher will partner with families to support student learning and participate in ongoing professional development to implement rigorous curricula and social-emotional learning.

The position requires Massachusetts teaching certification, a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), and SEI Endorsement within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree preferred
• Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure
• Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement required within 1 year
• Urban/public school experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science using district curriculum and workshop model
• Plans and uses instruction aligned to state standards and diverse learning styles
• Maintains a positive classroom environment conducive to learning
• Prepares teaching materials and reports including data analyses to improve instruction
• Participates in in-service programs to enhance educational experience
• Designs lessons for individual or group learning and reinforces concepts
• Manages student behavior under supervision of building administrators
