Job description

Position Title: Grade 4 Dual Language (Spanish) Teacher

Position Type: Elementary School Teaching

Date Posted: May 11, 2025

Location: Woodland Intermediate School

Date Available: August 18, 2025, plus six days of New Staff Orientation (August 6-14, 2025)

Description: Provide a structured, individualized classroom environment to meet the needs of limited English speaking students by practicing differentiated instruction and implementing authentic assessments such as portfolios to evaluate student achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Illinois Professional Educator or Transitional Bilingual Educator License valid for Grades 4-5 with Spanish Bilingual approval or endorsement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary or Bilingual Education
  • Teaching or student teaching experience, preferably in elementary and/or bilingual classrooms

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core Standards
  • Motivate and instruct English Language Learners in English and Spanish
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
  • Maintain a positive classroom climate and manage student behavior
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain records
  • Communicate regularly with parents and staff
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development
  • Develop lesson plans suitable for bilingual students and utilize language acquisition strategies
  • Administer procedures for identifying and evaluating bilingual/ESL students
  • Participate in curriculum development and bilingual/ESL programs
  • Translate vital documentation when feasible
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education

Physical Demands:

Work requires skilled physical operations, handling materials or equipment, and some exposure to disagreeable elements.

Terms of Employment: 180 days, Monday to Friday, 8:20 a.m. - 3:55 p.m.

Salary Range: Based on experience and education, approximately $46,350 to $59,249 annually.
