Job summary

Glen Ridge Board Of Education is seeking a Grade 4 Teacher assistant to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals. You will help reinforce reading, math, and language arts, working with students individually and in small groups to implement programs.

Under supervision, you will assist with assessments, classroom set-up, and materials preparation, while helping with IEP processes and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Previ​ous experience with special needs students desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
• Assists professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and keep students on task.
• Assists students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, corridors, study hall, etc.).
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Assists teacher with parent contact to foster involvement in student education.
• Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement.
