Job summary

EAST HARTFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS seeks a Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher for Grade One to cover a leave from January 2027 through March 2027. The daily rate ranges from $150 to $250 based on experience, with responsibilities to maintain continuity of instruction and student progress.

The teacher will report to the Principal or supervisor and will manage a class, prepare lessons, and assess student learning while upholding district policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Certified in subject area.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in student teaching, substitute teaching, or teaching in private school.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students.
• Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
