Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Robotics Navigation Engineer to develop real-time GPS-denied navigation for robotic platforms. You will fuse inertial sensors, GPS (when available), cameras, lidar, and other inputs, test algorithms on demonstration hardware, and contribute to near-term field demonstrations.

You’ll work with a small team in spiral or agile cycles, travel for 1–2 weeks per trip, and present techniques and results to sponsors. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, software, aerospace, mechanical engineering or equivalent with 4+ years of experience, or Master’s with 2+ years of experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with one or more sensor fusion algorithms: EKF, UKF, PF, or factor graphs.
  • Programming and analysis experience in MATLAB.
  • Must be a US Citizen; ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop real-time GPS-denied navigation algorithms for robotic platforms.
  • Fuse inputs from inertial sensors, GPS, cameras, lidar, odometers, and other sources.
  • Use computer vision techniques like feature matching, SLAM, and visual odometry.
  • Collaborate in a team of 3–5 engineers; test algorithms on demonstration hardware.
  • Travel for demonstrations 1–2 weeks per trip, 3–4 times per year; present results to team and customers.
