Job summary

Archer seeks a highly skilled navigation software engineer to develop and tune state-estimation algorithms for GPS-denied navigation in an all-electric aircraft context. You will implement VIO, INS fusion, and multi-sensor fusion, integrating IMU, camera, lidar into a navigation stack and validating through simulations and real-world tests.

Based onsite in the United States, this role requires a strong GN&C background and proficiency in C and Python, with bonus experience in PX4 or ArduPilot EKF

Qualifications

  • Background in GN&C, robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong proficiency in C and Python.
  • Experience with VIO/SLAM techniques.
  • Experience with EKF or factor-graph-based sensor fusion.
  • Experience integrating IMU, camera, and lidar sensors into a navigation stack.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and tune state-estimation algorithms for GPS-denied and GNSS-degraded navigation.
  • Implement visual-inertial odometry (VIO), lidar/vision-aided INS, and multi-sensor fusion approaches.
  • Integrate state-estimation solutions with onboard sensors (IMU, camera, lidar).
  • Validate navigation performance through simulation, bench testing, and field testing.
  • Analyze test data to resolve navigation performance issues.
  • Collaborate with perception, controls, and test teams for robust navigation across operating conditions.
