Job Description

The Government Relations Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining Verisk’s trusted relationships with state agencies—essential for sustaining our data partnerships, regulatory compliance, and market leadership. By ensuring timely and accurate communication with state partners, and by translating evolving regulations into actionable insights, you will help safeguard Verisk’s operational integrity and support the development of innovative insurance solutions. Your work directly impacts our ability to deliver trusted analytics that help customers make better decisions and foster a more resilient world.

Responsibilities

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Maintain and Strengthen State Relationships:
    • Ensure state contracts and forms are up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain direct data connections with state systems.
    • Prepare and manage documentation of state communications, agreements, and any related issues.
  • Monitor and Communicate Regulatory Changes:
    • Track and analyze regulatory updates from state governments.
    • Distribute relevant updates to internal stakeholders and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Drive Project Coordination:
    • Oversee project plans involving multiple internal teams and workstreams.
    • Facilitate clear and timely communication to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Develop Industry and Product Expertise:
    • Gain a thorough understanding of Verisk and Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) products and services.
    • Apply this knowledge to support informed decision-making and effective stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications

About You and How You Can Excel in this Role

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Public Policy, Business, Communications, Insurance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • You have 3 or more years of experience in government relations, regulatory affairs, public policy, or a related role—ideally within the insurance, technology, or another regulated industry. Experience working with state or federal regulatory processes is highly valued.
  • You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and are adept at building effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government officials.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, you can manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment. You bring strong analytical thinking and have experience interpreting regulatory information. Familiarity with insurance industry data or systems is a plus.
