Overview

Arnold & Porter’s Government Contracts & National Security Practice Group is seeking a mid-level associate for the Washington, D.C. office. Arnold & Porter’s Chambers/Legal 500 Band1 (market leading) Government Contracts & National Security team has a broad mix of litigation, investigation, export control, cybersecurity, mergers and acquisition, and counseling work. Some examples of the group’s recent work include: litigating multi‑billion dollar, complex contract award challenges for large aerospace and defense companies and handling the negotiation of novel agreements with the government (including OTAs, CRADAs, and TIAs). We also frequently advise both recipients and subrecipients of grants (including the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act) in the interpretation of grant requirements and compliance, as well as federal audits, enforcement actions, and other controversies with awarding agencies. The work is exciting, often quite relevant to ongoing world issues, and fast paced.



Responsibilities and Qualifications


  • Minimum of three years of prior legal experience in the field and demonstrated interest in government contracts law; strong research, writing, and analytic skills; ability to work independently and creatively; and ability to work successfully as part of a team.

  • Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience as a judicial clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims, as well as to those who have academic training in government contracts law.

  • All applicants should have excellent academic credentials and references.

  • Applicants must currently be licensed, or currently be eligible to become licensed, to practice law in Washington, D.C.

  • The salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $260,000 to $365,000, commensurate with experience. Eligibility for an hours‑based bonus available.
