Job summary

City of New Hope Minnesota is seeking a detail-driven accountant to manage the city's general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting. The role collaborates with human resources during benefits enrollment and supports the annual budgeting process.

You will monitor cash activity, coordinate with ERP, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with governmental accounting practices, with ample benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Associates/Technical degree with coursework in business, or related field and moderate experience in accounting.
• Experience maintaining general ledger and payroll processing is preferred.
• Ability to prepare and review financial reports and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Review general ledger coding for capital assets and projects and adjust accounts as needed.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and perform periodic GL reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and budgets.
• Coordinate annual budget preparation and reporting with relevant departments.
• Oversee payroll processing and payroll tax filings, including W-2s.
• Reconcile accounts payable/receivable and monitor cash balances daily.
