Job summary

The Assumption Parish Police Jury in Napoleonville seeks an Accountant/Auditor for full-time work in the Administrative Office. Responsibilities include budget oversight for federal programs, asset tracking, and financial reporting for grants and parish programs.

Five years of governmental or general accounting experience is preferred, with an accounting-related degree. Proficiency in Excel is required, and duties may extend beyond normal hours during the annual audit period.

Qualifications

• College degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Business Management preferred but five (5) years of work experience in governmental or general accounting is a necessity.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of the Federal Programs budget and oversight and compilation of the entire parish budget.
• Maintenance of the fixed asset listing consisting of tracking all purchases of assets and disposal of assets.
• Fiscal reporting for grants and federal programs.
• Compilation and recording of data in journals and ledgers of various federal, state and parish programs.
• Interaction with program monitors and auditors.
• Preparation of all parish records/documents necessary for the annual financial audit which may result in working hours outside of the normal workday during the audit period of January through June.
• Availability during natural disasters to assist the OHSEP Director in civil defense and hazardous matter activities.
• Attendance at Police Jury meetings on an irregular basis as needed.
