Job description

Governance Analyst II

Position Type: Full time, Non‑exempt, Offsite (work in‑office based on business needs). Must be within commutable distance to office

Schedule: Thursdays – Mondays; 8 AM (PST) – 5 PM (PST)

Residency Requirements: Washington D.C.: For all positions based in the Washington, D.C. office, residency within Washington D.C., Maryland or Virginia and within a reasonable commutable distance to the assigned office is required depending on the firm’s discretion and the nature of the role. Los Angeles and San Francisco Offices: For all positions based in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, residency within the state of California and within a reasonable commutable distance to the assigned office is required depending on the firm’s discretion and the nature of the role.

Salary Range: $44.69/HR – $60.34/HR ($92,955.20 – $125,507.20 annually). The salary range is the one that Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP reasonably expects to pay for this position. The posted range is only one component of MTO’s Total Rewards package.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the governance program, including conflicts checks, new matter intake, ethical walls, records management, outside counsel guidelines, and audit letters.
  • Conduct conflicts checks for new client/matters, pitches, prospective attorneys, and professionals.
  • Prepare and analyze conflicts reports to identify potential conflicts issues.
  • Communicate potential conflicts issues to attorneys and other interested parties; assist with conflicts resolution.
  • Document and maintain matter lifecycle data in Intapp, 3E, and other systems.
  • Complete new business intake forms and provide administrative support for the intake review process.
  • Draft, analyze, and review engagement letters; evaluate the need for ethical walls.
  • Set up ethical walls in billing and document management systems; draft and circulate ethical screening memoranda firmwide.
Tools
  • Proficiency with conflicts database systems (e.g., Intapp, 3E, Aderant, Legal Key) is required.
  • Proficiency with records, intake, and secure file transfer systems (e.g., Intapp, 3E, FileTrail, Varonis, Kiteworks) is desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is desired.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive) and document management systems is desired.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree a plus.
  • 3+ years law firm conflicts, governance, or records experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment, interacting professionally with others.
Physical Demands

Writing, typing, reading, speaking, hearing, seeing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions

Quiet office environment in a high‑rise building, seated the majority of the time.
