Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Security Guard for Government Services Building Control Access. The role involves serving clients, monitoring entrances, and maintaining a visible security presence to deter incidents and ensure a welcoming environment.

The position is full-time with a pay rate of $18.87 per hour. Requirements include at least 1 year of security experience, being 18+ (21+ for armed), a high school diploma, and passing background and drug screenings.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, families, and members of the public while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government services location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, offices, and perimeter locations, to help identify and report unusual conditions or concerns.
• Monitor access points, verify visitor authorization as directed by site procedures, and maintain accurate visitor, incident, and activity logs.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and/or emergency services as needed.
• Observe and report security-related concerns, policy violations, damaged property, and maintenance issues according to established reporting procedures.
