Job Summary

Our Gourmet Chefs are involved in all aspects of the day-to-day Central Kitchen/Market District operations. They are responsible for food preparation, food quality, merchandising, customer service, and food safety standards. Additionally, they maintain ongoing food education for associates and customers, and work to increase profitability and promote growth.

Job Description

  • Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
  • Experience Desired: Advanced Culinary Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Culinary Awards or accreditation, Food Safety Awareness
  • Education Desired: Associate’s Degree
  • Certification or Licensing Required: Serv-Safe Certification a plus
  • Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds

Job Responsibilities

  • Support a culture of safety including food safety, team member safety, and customer safety.
  • Share knowledge about food with team members and customers.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques and provide sampling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Promote an environment that embraces diversity, inclusion, and respect for team members, customers, vendors, and the community.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to food safety, food holding, temperature, and OSHA standards.
  • Manage inventories weekly in collaboration with the Kitchen Manager/Prepared Foods Manager, and assist with monthly inventory processes.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted food cost percentages, minimize waste, and follow production guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of departmental activities.
  • Participate in catering and food production activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follow recipes and merchandising guidelines to align with company direction.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, training sessions, and other management functions as needed.
