Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred background in institutional food service.
  • Demonstrated aptitude, competence or training for the assigned responsibilities.
  • Previous managerial experience desired.
  • Must successfully complete the state training curriculum before becoming permanently employed.
  • Must complete the SNA Level I Certification training curriculum within the second year of employment.
Reports To

Director of School Nutrition / School Principal

Job Goal

Manage and coordinate the day-to-day school nutrition operations of an assigned school site; ensure compliance with District, State, and Federal requirements.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Assign, direct, plan, and supervise the work of cafeteria employees. Instruct and train new cafeteria workers.
  • Schedule and evaluate staff.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Maintain knowledge of current Point-of-Service (POS) program.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, meet schedules, and organize workload.
  • Use and care of institutional equipment and utensils.
  • Knowledge of ordering, receiving, storing, and inventorying food and supplies.
  • Follow health and safety regulations pertaining to food establishments, including sanitation and maintenance.
  • Use tact, patience, and courtesy in interpersonal skills.
  • Attend and participate in workshops, in-service, and manager meetings.
  • Process daily deposits and handle banking as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a high-quality lunch program.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift items up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, and climb.
  • Perform physical labor as required.
Terms of Employment

Compensation will be determined by the Superintendent based on the number of contract days and the appropriate salary schedule approved by the board.
