Job summary

Google seeks a senior leader for the RCS for Business Messaging Spam and Abuse team based in Sunnyvale, CA. You will protect users by designing anti-abuse protections, guiding cross-functional product features, and steering enforcement strategies at Google scale.

You will work with engineers and product managers globally, shaping security policies and driving proactive measures to reduce abuse across Google's ecosystem, including malware, phishing, and scams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in data analytics, trust and safety, policy, anti-abuse messaging solutions, fraud/abuse investigations, risk management, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience leading and developing teams.
  • 3 years of experience with product launch or program management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify Business-to-Users and Users-to-Business threats, cross-functional protections, and counter-abuse strategies.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify signals for scaled enforcement and leverage AI/ML to improve efficiency.
  • Design and operate Trust and Safety review, enforcement, and appeals workflows with clear guidelines.
  • Provide abuse and policy expertise to Product/Engineering and other teams for automated enforcement solutions.
  • Monitor ecosystem performance and investigate anomalies to explain trends and guide executive decisions.

Job description

Minimum qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience in data analytics, trust and safety, policy, anti-abuse messaging solutions, fraud/abuse investigations, risk management, or a related field.

  • 3 years of experience leading and developing teams.

  • 3 years of experience with product launch or program management.


Preferred qualifications


  • Experience in fraud investigations, risk management, and threat analysis for communication products.

  • Experience building technical or product-based anti-abuse messaging solutions.

  • Experience in operations and trust and safety, including leading fast-moving teams.

  • Proficiency in large-scale data analysis and processes for developing ML reputation models.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to the evolving abuse landscape.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.


About The Job

The RCS for Business (RBM) Messaging Spam and Abuse team works on preventing abuse within the RBM ecosystem (Business to user, and User to business).


We are responsible for keeping our partners safe from malicious content (phishing, malware, scams) and unwanted interactions (spam). Over the next few years, we intend to scale up the protections across the ecosystem, in partnership with product and engineering teams, with a focused goal of de-risking RCS value to the business ecosystem overall.


In this role, you will understand the user's point of view and be passionate about using your technical, investigative, and strategic acumen to protect our users. You will work globally and cross-functionally with Google Engineers and Product Managers to navigate challenging online safety situations and manage abuse and fraud at Google scale.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.


US: $171000 - $247000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Identify Business-to-Users and Users-to-Business threats, working cross-functionally to design and build anti-abuse protections, influence safer-by-design product features, and advise on counter-abuse strategies and emerging trends.

  • Analyze complex data and emerging trends to identify new signals for scaled enforcement, leading projects to increase the adoption of AI/ML to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Design and operate the full Trust and Safety funnel of review, enforcement, and appeals workflows, this includes ensuring effective policy implementation by drafting guidelines for reviewers and overseeing review and enforcement quality.

  • Provide abuse and policy expertise to Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to support the development of automated enforcement solutions.

  • Monitor ecosystem performance against key metrics, investigate anomalies in spam trends to identify root causes, manage industry partner-experience trends, and manage executive escalations by providing timely, data- and content-driven insights.
