Job summary

VDart, Inc. is seeking a Google Cloud Platform Database Site Reliability/Support Engineer (SCE) to manage and optimize cloud-native databases with hands-on Cloud Spanner expertise.

This remote contract role requires strong SQL, distributed databases, and incident management experience. Responsibilities include deploying GC database services, monitoring reliability, and implementing DR strategies, with automation using Terraform and Python/Bash.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Spanner including schema design and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL and distributed database concepts including consistency, sharding, and replication.
• Experience with GCP IAM, networking, and monitoring (Cloud Monitoring/Logging).
• Familiarity with incident management and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Google Cloud Platform database services (Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore).
• Monitor performance, availability, and reliability of production database systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, ensuring SLA/SLO compliance.
• Optimize Cloud Spanner schemas, queries, and instance configurations for scale and cost.
• Implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on database architecture and migrations.
• Automate operational tasks using Terraform/scripting (Python/Bash).

Role Overview:

We're looking for a Google Cloud Platform Database Support/Site Reliability Engineer to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud-native database systems, with hands-on expertise in Cloud Spanner as a mandatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage Google Cloud Platform database services (Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore)

• Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, ensuring SLA/SLO compliance
