Job description

IgniteAction, a joint venture between ActioNet and Ignite, has an immediate opening for an experienced Google Cloud Engineer (SME). The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud. Responsibilities include integrating cloud services with on-prem systems, automating deployments using DevSecOps tools, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA), optimizing data pipelines, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and well-documented cloud solutions.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate cloud services based on project requirements.
  • Develop integration strategies and data flow architectures for cloud-based systems.
  • Integrate Google Cloud services (e.g., Google Earth Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions) with on-premises systems or other cloud platforms (EDL).
  • Develop and maintain APIs for system and application integrations.
  • Use tools like Google Cloud API Gateway, Cloud Endpoints, and Service Accounts for secure integrations.
  • Implement automation using tools like Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, or Google Cloud SDK.
  • Configure and deploy virtual machines, networking, and storage resources within Google Cloud.
  • Set up containerized environments with Kubernetes and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Migrate data from on-premises databases or other cloud providers to Google Cloud platforms; implement ETL processes; optimize data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement cloud security best practices such as IAM, encryption, and network security.
  • Perform security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage security policies and access controls using Google Cloud Security tools.
  • Monitor cloud resources and applications using Google Cloud Operations suite for performance and availability.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to integration, network, and cloud services.
  • Provide ongoing support for cloud infrastructure and resolve incidents in production environments.
  • Collaborate with development teams, business stakeholders, and clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Document integration processes, architecture designs, and best practices for internal use and client delivery.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in GCP and AWS, with a good understanding of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Knowledge of automation tools for provisioning, scaling, and management of cloud environments (Dev/QA, Stage, Production) and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and how to ensure compliance.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud database services, and storage solutions.
  • Experience with building, testing, and deploying applications in a cloud environment using DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Skills in automating workflows and integrating with cloud platforms via APIs and SDKs.
  • Experience setting up and configuring monitoring tools like Datadog for performance, security, and availability, including metrics tracking, security vulnerability identification, and alerting.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical SMEs, security teams, and OCIO to ensure seamless communication, security compliance, and optimal system functionality across platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator, Google Professional Cloud Engineer).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible.
  • Familiarity with federal IT security standards such as FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST.
