About Good Guards

Good Guards is a new mission-driven security staffing enterprise launched by Goodwill NYNJ. Our goal is to create stable, fair-wage jobs for New Yorkers who face barriers to employment — while offering high-quality, socially responsible guard services to our partners.

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Principal Security License Holder to anchor our agency license and provide light industry oversight, as required under New York State General Business Law Article 7.

This is a low-commitment, high-impact advisory role ideal for a security professional who wants to give back without managing day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Principal for Good Guards’ license under New York State law
  • Complete required compliance and licensing paperwork (approx. 2–4 hours/month)
  • Provide periodic strategic or compliance-related guidance to our executive team
  • Maintain active licensing and good standing with the NYS Department of State
Qualifications
  • Required: At least 2 years supervisory experience in one of the following:
  • Licensed security services
  • Law enforcement
  • Military Police (MP)
  • Eligible to serve as a Principal under NYS GBL Article 7
  • Commitment to ethical leadership, community impact, and inclusive hiring
Benefits
  • Stipend provided ($1,000/ month)
  • Full D&O (Directors & Officers) liability protection
  • Mission-aligned opportunity to support inclusive employment in New York
  • Flexible schedule; no operational responsibilities

We believe in challenging the status quo and setting ambitious goals in the name of doing more good. We believe that being your best self and helping others do the same is how we bring our mission alive. Even if you don’t think you meet all the qualifications listed for the job, we would love to hear from you!
