Job summary

Southworth is seeking a dedicated Golf Outside Operations team member to ensure a premier member and guest experience. You will help with bag handling, cart coordination, and course upkeep to maintain a welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates possess strong customer service, golf etiquette knowledge, and physical stamina to work weekends and varying shifts in a private club setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Exceptional customer service and friendly demeanor required.
• Strong knowledge of golf etiquette and rules expected.
• Physical ability to lift and carry golf bags, bend, stoop and stand for long periods.
• Excellent communication with members, guests and colleagues.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and varied shifts.
• Previous customer-facing experience preferred in golf or hospitality.
• Familiarity with golf cart operation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome golfers with a warm, friendly introduction to the club.
• Assist golfers with loading/unloading bags from carts, handling equipment with care.
• Maintain the practice area by replenishing balls and ensuring cleanliness and safety.
• Coordinate golf cart distribution and collection; ensure carts are clean and charged.
• Monitor pace of play and encourage appropriate speed; address concerns as needed.
• Keep staging area organized with golf accessories (tees, scorecards, pencils).
• Assist with tournament and event setup including signage and course markings.
• Report maintenance needs after regular course checks; ensure course is in top condition.
• Maintain cleanliness of golf facility, restrooms, and common areas.
• Support Pro Shop with customer feedback, event promotion, and sales as needed.
• Enforce club policies and foster a safe, enjoyable golfing environment.

The Opportunity

As a member of the Golf Outside Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests. Your role will involve ensuring the smooth functioning of the golf course and its surroundings, contributing to the overall ambiance of our club.

Duties And Functions

• Greet and welcome golfers, providing them with a warm and friendly introduction to the club.
• Assist golfers with loading and unloading their golf bags from carts, ensuring their equipment is handled with care.
• Maintain the practice area by replenishing golf balls, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a safe environment.
• Coordinate golf cart distribution and collection, ensuring they are clean, charged, and ready for use.
• Monitor the pace of play on the course, encouraging groups to maintain an appropriate speed and addressing any concerns.
• Keep the staging area organized, neat, and well-stocked with golf accessories such as tees, scorecards, and pencils.
• Assist with tournament and event setup, including signage, special course markings, and other requirements.
• Perform regular checks of the course to ensure it is in optimal playing condition, reporting any maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the golf facility, including restrooms and common areas.
• Provide assistance to the Pro Shop by conveying customer feedback, promoting club events, and assisting with sales when needed.
• Ensure compliance with club policies and rules, fostering a safe and enjoyable golfing environment.

Qualification Standards

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Strong knowledge of golf etiquette and rules.
• Physical ability to lift and carry golf bags, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with members, guests, and colleagues.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within a golf or hospitality environment.
• Familiarity with golf cart operation and basic maintenance is a plus.
