Great Parks is seeking a full-time Golf Maintenance Technician to keep the Winton Woods The Mill Course in optimal condition in Cincinnati, OH. The role spans mowing, irrigation, pest management, and seasonal maintenance to ensure a high-quality golfing environment.

The position requires weekend, holiday, early morning and evening shifts, with opportunities to contribute to tournament preparations and safety compliance. Prior turf or landscape experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous landscape maintenance or golf course management experience.
  • Basic knowledge of turf management practices and equipment operation.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks including mowing, aerating, and fertilizing greens and fairways.
  • Inspect and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across the course.
  • Assist in the preparation of the course for tournaments and special events.
  • Monitor and manage pest control measures to protect the turf and landscaping.
  • Collaborate with the grounds crew to implement seasonal maintenance plans and improvements.
  • Resolves routine problems and ensures work is completed as directed and in conformance with quality standards.
  • Performs various grounds maintenance tasks at one or more golf courses.
  • Applies fertilizer, pesticides and aquacides.
  • Clears brush and small trees.
  • Mows right of way, rough areas, and golf course playing surfaces.
  • Plants flowers, shrubs, trees, and grass seed.
  • Water and fertilize plants, prunes trees and shrubs, weeds flower beds and performs other gardening tasks as directed.
  • May assist with snow removal from roadways, parking areas and walkways.
  • Performs minor mechanical repairs and performs routine preventive maintenance to small gasoline engines in tractors, mowers, pumps, utility carts, trucks, and other equipment.
  • Adjusts reel and rotary mowers for proper cutting heights and correct quality of cut.
  • Performs annual, or as needed mower repairs and rebuilding work.
  • May participate in annual reel mower grinding and sharpening program.
  • Performs irrigation and other minor plumbing repairs.
  • Performs minor building and carpentry repairs.
  • Responds to public questions and represents Great Parks in a positive manner at all times.
  • Places a high priority on employee and guest safety. Ensures compliance and adherence to safety procedures, training is completed and documentation is maintained.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment as assigned. Adheres to purchasing card procedures and submits expenditures for supervisor approval. Logs work performed, problems encountered, parts used and other required information.
  • Employee regularly lifts or exerts force on items up to 25 pounds, with occasional weights in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Golf Maintenance Technician is essential for ensuring the optimal condition and playability of the golf course at Winton Woods The Mill Course. This role involves a combination of routine maintenance, landscaping, and equipment operation to uphold the aesthetic and functional standards of the course. The technician will work closely with the grounds crew to implement agronomic practices that promote healthy turf and enhance the overall golfing experience. LICENSE OF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines; State of Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s License within one year of employment.
