Jasna Polana in Princeton, New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Superintendent in Training (AIT) for a hands-on development path in golf course management. You will work alongside the Superintendent and other staff to gain practical experience in turfgrass practices, irrigation, equipment operations, and crew leadership.

The role emphasizes project work, safety, and operational knowledge, with opportunities to advance to Assistant Superintendent as you develop technical and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or related educational program.
• Previous golf course maintenance experience preferred; motivated entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of turfgrass maintenance practices and equipment operation.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
• Interest in developing leadership and supervisory skills.
• Willingness to obtain a New Jersey Pesticide Applicator License, as applicable to assigned responsibilities.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, professionalism, and high standards of course conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily golf course maintenance operations, crew assignments, and staff training.
• Learn and perform maintenance practices across greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas.
• Assist with irrigation operation, troubleshooting, repairs, watering practices, and system improvement projects.
• Support fertilizer and pesticide applications in accordance with product labels, applicable regulations, and established agronomic programs.
• Assist with equipment operation, inspections, preventative maintenance, and proper care.
• Participate in aeration, topdressing, seeding, sodding, drainage, and other course improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate records for chemical applications, fertility, irrigation, labor, and maintenance activities.
• Promote workplace safety, proper PPE use, equipment cleanliness, and effective communication through two-way radios.
• Support tournaments, special events, daily course preparation, and other duties as assigned.
