Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS is seeking a Golf Course Supervisor for Sunflower Hills Golf Course. You will supervise crew, implement agronomic plans, calibrate chemicals, and troubleshoot irrigation systems to maintain optimal turf conditions.

The role requires knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and supervisory principles. A valid driver’s license is required, and you will report to the Golf Course Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years related experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles.
  • Experience in irrigation troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of golf rules and course management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily work assignments and manage manpower, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspect turf conditions and report to Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Repair and maintain turf maintenance equipment.
  • Operate irrigation systems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Keep records of chemical applications, water usage and fuel consumption.
  • Maintain and care for shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature.

Job Description

The Golf Course Supervisor will work in conjunction with and report to the Golf Course Superintendent. The position is working supervisory position. The main responsibilities of the position are to implement agronomic plans, assist with daily crew supervision and delegation, assist with chemical and fertilizer calibration and application, irrigation troubleshooting and repair.

  • maintenance of mowers, sprayers, equipment and golf carts
  • assist maintaining accurate records of chemical applications, water usage and gasoline consumption
  • maintenance of shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and three years experience in area of assignment
  • or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and experience in area of assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles
  • experience in irrigation troubleshooting and repair
  • knowledge of the game and the rules of golf
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
Essential Duties
  • Supervises personnel to include: prioritizing and scheduling daily work assignments and determining manpower, equipment, and supply needs
  • Conducts inspections of turf condition to include checking for dryness, fungus, and insect damage and reports conditions to the Golf Course Superintendent
  • Conducts inspections, repairs, and maintains turf maintenance equipment
  • Operates all turf maintenance equipment which includes but does not limit to mowers, tractors, vehicles, golf carts, chain saws, and gas-powered lawn equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system
  • Maintains and upkeeps the entire golf course property which includes but does not limit to housekeeping the maintenance shop and collects trash and debris on the golf course
  • Plants, waters, fertilize, mulch, and maintain shrubs, flowers, trees, and turf
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Training and Experience

Licensing Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

$20.31 - 25.86 per hour
