A prestigious golf facility is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent / Agronomist to oversee agronomic operations and maintain championship-quality playing conditions. This high-impact leadership role includes supervising a team, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, all while enhancing member experience through course improvements.
Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club, part of the esteemed Heritage Golf Group portfolio, is seeking an experienced Golf Course Superintendent / Agronomist to lead the agronomic operations for our renowned golf facility located on beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for maintaining championship-quality playing conditions, overseeing all turf and grounds maintenance, and guiding a talented team dedicated to excellence.
Lead all agronomic and golf course maintenance operations for 18+ holes and practice facilities
Develop and implement annual turfgrass management plans, including chemical and fertility programs
Manage irrigation systems, water usage, and course conditioning with environmental responsibility
Supervise, train, and develop a dedicated turf team, including assistants, technicians, and laborers
Oversee agronomic budgeting, purchasing, equipment care, and vendor relationships
Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees, members, and guests on course in compliance with local, state, and federal laws; implements and manages the club’s hazard communication (HAZCOM) program.
Collaborate with the VP of Agronomy and Club General Manager to enhance member experience through course improvements and strategic capital projects
Prepares annual budget for department; takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that
budget goals are met
Ensures that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations; maintains required records and strives to minimize
the use of chemicals and petroleum products
Licenses and Special Requirements
·Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA), class A.
·Pesticide Application certification.
·Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
·Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
·Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
·Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
·Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
·Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
