Distinguishing Features of Work

Minimum Age: 18 years

Place of Employment: Dearborn Hills Golf Course, Telegraph Rd. North of Michigan Ave.

Hours of Work: Seasonal position. Working 20 to 40 hours per week during the golf season (April through November). The golf course operates 7 days a week, opening as early as 6:00 a.m. and closing as late as 10:00 p.m. The schedule varies and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees must be available for various shifts; extended time off is limited.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Perform pro shop, starter/ranger, and golf cart attendant duties as required.
• Answer phones, make tee time reservations, and handle payments for fees, merchandise, and snacks (including some alcoholic beverages).
• Oversee individual golfing parties and monitor their play.
• Patrol the course, monitor pace of play, enforce rules, and maintain course appearance.
• Prepare power carts for golfers and retrieve carts after use.
• Wash and clean carts, return to storage, and maintain the cart outside service area.
• Wear uniform (shirt & name badge).
• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
• Report to the Golf Course Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements

• Some knowledge of golf and proper etiquette.
• Operate cash register/computer systems.
• Keep records and prepare reports promptly.
• Follow oral instructions and communicate effectively.
• Use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others and enforcing rules.
• Maintain contact with golfers.
• Operate and communicate via two-way radio.
• Lift up to 40 lbs. multiple times per shift.

Experience, Training, and Licensing

• Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.

Post-Employment Requirements

Satisfactory completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening (excluding legalized substances under Michigan law).
