China Lake Golf Course, established in 1956 and designed by Billy Bell, invites applications for a leader in golf operations and course maintenance. You will oversee day-to-day course operations for nine holes, coordinate tournaments, manage facilities, and ensure safety and compliance with environmental rules.

A candidate with three years' experience in golf ops, strong communication, and a Class A PGA preferred is desired.

Overview

China Lake Golf Course offers an accessible and welcoming playing experience for golfers of all skill levels. Established in 1956 and designed by Billy Bell, the 72-par course spans 248 acres and includes a full practice facility, covered driving range, on-site lessons, equipment rentals, and concessions from Mulligan's. The course is open to all with base access, with memberships and twilight specials available.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess: Professional knowledge of golf operations and maintenance to include three years experience. Active \"Class A \" member of the Professional Golfer's Association of America is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, to include matters relating to chemicals, spray, and other agents. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a golf course which includes nine holes, fairways and greens. Responsible to provide technical advice and equipment. Schedules and conducts tournaments and special events. May instruct member golfers, operate a pro shop and golf cart rental. May manage an eating facility. Plans, organizes work and manages internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares financial plan, budgets, inventories, cost controls, and related records and reports. Reviews the financial status of the assigned activity and recommends changes considered necessary. Either directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors, manages activity employees. Trains, schedules work, appraises performance, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions. Effectively supports the Navy Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, security, sanitation, hazardous material handling and other environmental issues. Manages new property resources and provides advice on renovations and improvements. Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action. Performs other related duties as assigned.
