Job summary

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is seeking a full-time, hourly grounds maintenance worker for the golf course and related facilities in Cullman, Alabama. Responsibilities include turf care, irrigation, and equipment operation to ensure optimal playing conditions.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, at least one year of grounds maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in maintenance of golf course grounds.
• Maintain golf course in proper playing conditions: greens, tees, fairways, rough, shop grounds, and practice facility.
• Operate equipment such as power tools and hand tools.
• Assist in verti-cutting/aeration and top dressing of turf grass.
• Assist in irrigation of the golf course and system.
• Operate various mowing equipment.
• Work as a team member to keep the facility in excellent condition.
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Promote the golf course and CPRST Community.
• Communicate effectively with golf course and parks staff.
• Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma/GED, and at least one year of grounds maintenance experience. Certified in first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) preferred. Possess a valid driver’s license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in maintenance of golf course grounds.

• Assists in the irrigation of golf course and irrigation system.

• Is able to work as a team member to ensure the facility is kept in excellent condition.
• Maintains a safe and productive work environment.
• Promotes Terri Pines Country Club.
• Effectively communicates with all golf course and parks and recreation staff.
• Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
• Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws, and CPRST system policies.
• Maintains professional internal and external relationships in keeping with CPRST core values.
• Work hours may vary, which will include nights, weekends, and some holidays, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
• Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
• Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
• Attends all meetings as required by supervisors.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work exposes the employee to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with mowing equipment, chemicals, and general maintenance duties. Protective equipment is required such as gloves, safety glasses, clothing, and boots.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed both inside and outside and requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, and computer. Work also requires working around heights, heavy lifting, and the ability to climb, stand, bend, and sit while performing various job duties. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
