Job summary

Palmetto Bluff Company, LLC in Bluffton, SC seeks a Crossroads Assistant In Training to support the golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and related areas under the Golf Course Superintendents’ supervision. You will assist with planning work schedules, inventory, product applications, irrigation and equipment maintenance, and budget-related tasks as part of the Palmetto Bluff Golf Club team.

Qualifications

• Desire to become an elite golf course superintendent.
• Actively pursuing a turf certificate or associate degree in Turfgrass Science.
• Plan to obtain South Carolina pesticide applicator certification within 6 months of hire.
• Familiar with the game of golf and willing to work hard to complete tasks.
• Developing knowledge of turf construction, planting, fertilization, pest control, drainage, irrigation, equipment, and scheduling.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, members, vendors, and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Participate in management of all golf course areas (greens, tees, fairways, roughs, range).
• Assist in irrigation system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Monitor pump station, fertigation, and wells.
• Track inventory of irrigation, fertilizer, and pesticide supplies.
• Calibrate, maintain, and operate application equipment.
• Develop knowledge of pesticides, fertilizers, and safety precautions.
• Maintain shop facilities and organize tools and equipment.
• Participate in irrigation monitoring and Lynx system operation.
• Oversee projects and daily/weekly planning.
• Aim to develop skills to become a golf course superintendent.
