Job summary

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, part of Gate Hospitality Group, seeks a Golf Course Equipment Operator / Laborer to maintain turf health and playability. The role focuses on safe chemical applications, equipment operation, and daily grounds support.

Ideal candidates have experience in golf course maintenance, knowledge of pesticides/fertiliz ers, and a valid driver's license. Training and licensing opportunities are provided to support licensing exams in Florida.

Qualifications

• Experience in golf course maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of pesticides and fertilizers or willingness to learn/licensing program.
• Valid driver license required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to safely operate pesticides, fertilizers and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Apply pesticides and fertilizers to turf and landscapes.
• Monitor pest activity and turf conditions, treating issues as needed.
• Safely operate sprayers, tractors, and other maintenance equipment.
• Maintain daily chemical application records and weather notes.
• Drive department vehicles and assist with general grounds maintenance.

The Opportunity

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is seeking a Golf Course Equipment Operator / Laborer to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department. This position plays an important role in maintaining the overall health, appearance, and playability of the golf course through the safe application of pesticides and fertilizers, operation of maintenance equipment, and support of daily grounds maintenance activities. The Golf Course Equipment Operator / Laborer helps ensure the course consistently meets the high standards expected by our members and guests.

The Day-to-Day

• Apply pesticides and fertilizers to promote the continued beauty, health, and growth of golf course turf and landscaped areas.
• Monitor the golf course and grounds for pest activity and turf conditions, identifying and treating issues as appropriate.
• Safely operate hand-carried sprayers, self-contained sprayers, tractor-drawn sprayers, and other assigned maintenance equipment.
• Maintain accurate daily chemical application records, including products used, quantities applied, equipment utilized, and weather conditions.
• Organize and maintain the chemical storage room.
• Follow all procedures and safety standards related to the handling, storage, and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
• Learn to read, interpret, and follow pesticide application maps and routes.
• Drive department vehicles and equipment in support of golf course maintenance operations.
• Assist with general grounds and golf course maintenance activities as assigned.
• Gain working knowledge of pesticides, fertilizers, and their proper usage.
• Prepare for and successfully pass the Florida Department of Agriculture Turf and Ornamental License examinations.
• Maintain required licensing and certifications as needed.

What Sets You Apart

• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to safely work with pesticides, fertilizers, and related application equipment.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk extensive areas of the property while performing duties.
• Ability to safely operate hand-carried sprayers and other application equipment.
• Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge related to turf management practices.
• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
• Ability to identify pest issues and recommend or perform appropriate treatments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Department of Agriculture Turf and Ornamental License.
