Job summary

Southern Wayne CC seeks a seasoned golf course maintenance leader to maintain turf and playing conditions at the highest level. You will direct staff scheduling, landscape management, chemical applications, irrigation, and cultural practices to ensure superb course conditions.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in golf course maintenance, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, and the ability to obtain the NC pesticide license within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years related experience, or equivalent training.
• Possess or obtain NC pesticide license within 90 days.
• Strong communication and supervisory abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee turf and playing conditions to the highest level through direction and staff scheduling.
• Supervise, coordinate, train, and schedule daily golf course projects.
• Maintain chemical applications, fertilizer use, topdressing and aerification as conditions dictate.
• Monitor budgeting, expenditures, inventory, and annual budgeting process.
• Oversee golf course equipment maintenance, inventory, and purchasing.

Responsible for the overall condition of the golf course including but not limited : daily operations, scheduling maintenance, managing budgeted costs, and proper chemical usage. In order to maintain the turf and playing conditions for the golf course, to the highest level and provide the finest possible playing conditions and surroundings for members.

Essential job functions

Oversee and maintain turf and playing conditions to the highest level possible by direction and staff scheduling, landscape management, chemical applications, irrigation management, and special cultural practices.

Supervise , coordinate, train, and schedule daily assignments and projects conducted by the golf course staff.

Maintain certification in pesticide application by the appropriate regulatory agency. Apply fertilizer and chemicals to the golf course as conditions dictate i.e. fertilizers applications, top dress and aerification

Monitor all financial responsibilities including but not limited to daily expenditures, inventory control, purchasing, monthly and quarterly budgeting, and yearly budgeting process

Oversee golf course equipment maintenance, inventory, and purchasing programs.

Bachelor’s degree or one to two years of related experience and or training , or equivalent combination or the two. Three to five years experience in golf course maintenance.

Posses or have ability to obtain within 90 days NC restricted use pesticide commercial applicators license

Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written

Must posses basic computational ability

Knowledge of computer programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis

Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action if necessary
