Job summary

Pathlight Community Services is seeking a Medications Coordinator to lead medication administration, care program implementation, and staff supervision in our residential facility in Michigan. The role ensures safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and continuity of care across shifts.

Under the direction of Program and District Managers, you will oversee ITPS, daily programming, and resident activities, while mentoring new staff and providing emotional support as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions related to resident care.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of meeting the needs of residents, including lifting and mobility assistance.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Must be competent in: First Aid and CPR; Personal care and supervision; Safety and fire prevention; Infection control and disease prevention; Resident rights and confidentiality; Incident reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily programming and ensure safety procedures.
  • Support residents in developing social and life skills.
  • Oversee implementation of individualized treatment plans (ITPs).
  • Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living and personal care when needed.
  • Ensure accurate administration and documentation of prescribed medications.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards in medication handling and storage.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate Direct Care Staff performance.

  • Foster a positive and professional work environment.
  • Ensure safety and security of the residence during all shifts.
  • Monitor and manage petty cash to meet household and resident needs.
  • Oversee vehicle usage, including maintenance, refueling, and scheduling.
  • Prepare residents for next day’s appointments, work, or school.
  • Communicate effectively with midnight staff and Program Manager during shift transitions.
  • Assist residents in building healthy routines and participating in community resources.
  • Support development of social skills and positive peer interactions.
  • Provide informal counseling and emotional support as needed.
  • Help residents acclimate to the program and follow house rules.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of incidents, medications, and resident data.
  • Report behavioral, mental, or physical health changes to supervisors.

Position Summary

The Medications Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in supporting residents and ensuring the smooth, safe operation of the facility. Under the direction of the Program Manager and District Manager, this position is responsible for implementing care programs, maintaining safety protocols, overseeing medication administration, and supervising staff.

This position serves as the acting manager in the absence of the Home Manager and ensures continuity of care and program integrity across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities
Program & Resident Support

Facilitate daily programming and ensure adherence to all safety procedures.

Support residents in developing and practicing social and life skills.

Oversee the implementation of individualized treatment plans (ITPs).

Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living and personal care, when needed.
