Job summary

IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida seeks a Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to assist the Golf Course Superintendent in daily operation, turf management, and course setup to professional standards.

This hands-on role focuses on maintaining playability, operating equipment, applying turf products, supervising team members, and supporting events, with early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or coursework in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable.
• 2–5 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience with irrigation systems and mowing equipment.
• Current Qualified Applicator Certificate preferred or ability to obtain.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily maintenance of the golf course, practice facilities, and clubhouse grounds.
• Lead team members to ensure efficient, high-quality work.
• Train and onboard new hires; ensure safety standards and equipment operation.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform irrigation system operations, monitoring, and minor repairs.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf products safely.
• Monitor course conditions and report turf issues to the Superintendent.
• Prepare course for daily play, tournaments, and special events.
• Support construction or renovation projects as directed.
• Maintain records for chemical applications and operations.

Job Title: Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Department: Golf Course Grounds

Position Summary : S upports the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in the daily operation and maintenance of the golf course, practice areas, and surrounding grounds. This role is primarily hands-on, focusing on turf management, course setup, equipment operation, and maintaining playability and aesthetics to professional standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Assist with daily maintenance of the golf course, practice facilities, and clubhouse grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, and general turf care

Participates in day-to-day grounds maintenance and helps lead team members to ensure efficient and high-quality work

Assist with the training and onboarding of new hires, ensuring they understand procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation

Operate, clean, and maintain all golf course equipment safely and effectively

Perform irrigation system operations, monitoring, and minor repairs as directed

Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf management products following safety guidelines and regulatory requirements

Monitor course conditions, identify turf issues, and report concerns to the Superintendent

Assist with setup and preparation of the course for daily play, tournaments, and special events

Support construction or renovation projects as directed by the Superintendent

Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals or equipment

Maintain accurate records for chemical applications, equipment maintenance, and daily operations

O ther duties as assigned to support daily golf course grounds operations

Qualifications :

Associate’s degree or coursework in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable

2–5 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred

Experience with irrigation systems, mowing equipment, and general turf management practices

Current Qualified Applicator Certificate preferred or ability to obtain

Ability to work early mornings, weekends , and holidays as needed

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude

Ability to follow instructions, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently in a hands-on capacity

Knowledge of turfgrass maintenance, pest control, and golf course setup procedures

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift

Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxesup to 50 lbs.

Ability to work on various indoor and outdoor surfaces including grass, turf, etc. in all weather

The employee will be bending, pushing, pulling and twisting throughout their regular work duties

The employee will be working on mechanical equipment throughout their regular workduties

Regularly works with fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other turf management chemicals
