Job summary

Scheels in Springfield, IL is seeking a customer-focused Sales Associate to deliver a personalized WOW experience and help customers select the right products while promoting Scheels Visa. You will build product knowledge and train peers while contributing to a high-energy team environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and is comfortable with varied hours, including evenings and weekends, to support a busy retail schedule. Strong math and communication skills are valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with customers and guiding them through the sale, promoting Scheels Visa
• Maintain expert product knowledge and lead product knowledge training for other associates
• Meet or exceed personal sales goals while delivering a high-quality customer experience
• Manage inventory by running and analyzing internal Flash Reports
• Maintain organized backstock and ensure merchandise is displayed and replenished on the sales floor
• Ensure products are accurately displayed with price tags, signage and correct labeling
• Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude and team-oriented atmosphere
• Communicate professionally with store colleagues, Scheels Campus and Vendors/Sales Representatives
• Keep work area clean, organized and compliant with safety standards
• Perform basic math operations and currency calculations; understand percentages and pricing
• Be flexible to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service by seeking out and engaging with customers, going through the steps of the sale to determine their needs, recommending appropriate products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card
• Maintain expert-level knowledge in all selling areas, as well as lead product knowledge training for other associates
• Consistently meet or exceed personal sales goals while delivering a high-quality customer experience
• Manage inventory by running and analyzing Internal Flash Reports
• Effectively maintain an organized backstock while ensuring merchandise is properly displayed and replenished on the sales floor
• Ensures their product is accurately displayed to customers through price tagging, sales stickers, and signage
• Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and team-oriented atmosphere
• Communicate professionally with other associates within the store, the Scheels Campus, and Vendors/Sales Representatives
• Ensures their work area is clean, organized, and meets safety standards
• Ability to perform basic math; perform operations using units of currency, measurements, and understand percentages
• Ability to work assigned schedule; may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Including product knowledge meetings

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), 1-3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Compensation/Schedule:

Compensation for this position is a combination of hourly plus commission between $48,000 - $55,000 plus annually. Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 9:00am-9:00pm Monday through Saturday and 10:00am-6:00pm Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, holidays. Average hours per week is 42 hours. Typical schedule includes a set day off during the week, set night to close during the week and every other weekend rotation.
