Overview
The Shift Manager / Machine Operator plays a dual role in leading the swing shift pre-roll production team while operating specialized joint-rolling equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring production goals are met, maintaining compliance standards, troubleshooting machinery, and supporting a clean and efficient workspace. The ideal candidate brings leadership experience, technical aptitude, and a commitment to quality, compliance, and team success.
Responsibilities
- Shift Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations during assigned swing shifts, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
- Machine Operation & Troubleshooting: Operate and maintain pre-roll machines, ensuring consistent quality. Diagnose and resolve minor mechanical issues and escalate complex problems to supervisors or the machine manufacturer as needed.
- Production Oversight: Monitor workflow, adjust priorities based on demand, and ensure team members are supported and working efficiently.
- Data Management & Compliance: Accurately input production data into METRC, ensuring traceability and compliance with OLCC regulations.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to confirm that pre-rolls meet weight, density, appearance, and labeling standards.
- Training & Development: Provide on-the-job training for production team members, ensuring they follow SOPs and maintain company standards.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact during the shift, relaying updates, issues, and progress reports to the Production Supervisor.
- Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Enforce sanitation procedures and ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored.
- Collaborative Support: Assist with other production and packaging tasks as needed to support workflow and team success.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production lead or shift management role preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; previous machine operation experience preferred.
- Familiarity with METRC and OLCC compliance regulations is highly desirable.
- Valid OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit or ability to obtain prior to starting.
- Ability to lead and motivate small teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining compliance and quality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working swing shift hours consistently.
- Must be able to work around cannabis products and plant material.
