Job summary

Jacobs Entertainment, Inc. (JEI) is seeking a Line Cook I for the Gold ’N Silver Inn in Reno. The Gold ’N Silver is Reno’s oldest casual dining restaurant, a landmark for over 60 years, recently renovated to include a neighborhood bar and updated dining room. Responsibilities include assisting stations, maintaining cleanliness, following recipes, and ensuring food safety and timely service in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience.
  • Basic culinary training or equivalent kitchen experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Manager / Food Protection Manager certification required or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identification that establishes identity and right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist assigned stations during service with plating, garnishing, restocking, and prep tasks.
  • Maintain station organization, cleanliness, and readiness during high-volume periods.
  • Read tickets accurately and follow firing orders and timing.
  • Prepare simple proteins, vegetables, and garnishes according to recipe.
  • Follow food safety standards and proper temperature control.
  • Coordinate tasks to support timely order completion.
  • Maintain presentation quality and plate rims.
  • Demonstrate reliability and assist team members when needed.

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist assigned stations during service with plating, garnishing, restocking, and preparation tasks
  • Maintain station organization, cleanliness, and readiness during high-volume periods.
  • Anticipate needs of station leads and respond promptly to request
  • Accurately and efficiently complete statin item prop before, during, and after service
  • Prepare simple proteins, vegetables, and garnishes according to recipe and specifications
  • Use thermometers and visual cures to ensure proper doneness and food safety
  • Follow standardized cooking techniques to achieve consistent results
  • Reheat sauces and prepared items without scorching, breaking, or degrading quality
  • Maintain proper holding temperatures in accordance with food safety standards
  • Monitor product condition and notify supervisors of issues
  • Read and interpret tickets accurately, understanding firing order and timing
  • Response to verbal calls and instructions from supervisor and station leaders
  • Coordinate tasks to support timely order completion
  • Plate components cleanly, accurately, and consistently
  • Match presentation standards and reference materials
  • Maintain cleanliness of plate rims and overall presentation quality
  • Accurate execution of assigned tasks
  • Maintenance of clean, organized work area
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Adherence to sanitation, hygiene, and food safety practices
  • Proper temperature control and handling of food products
  • Reporting of hazards or unsafe conditions
  • Remains calm and focused under pressure
