Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a dedicated oper ator to join the Round Mountain ore processing team in Nevada. The role covers the Mill, Crusher, or ADR plant areas depending on experience and offers training across departments while maintaining Kinross’ safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities include general clean up, operating small loaders and lifting equipment, and assisting in reagent monitoring and system checks.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk up, down and over rough terrain.
• Ability to shovel/scoop material.
• Ability to lift & carry up to 50 lbs frequently.

• Willing to train on other equipment.

• May operate small frontend loaders, forklifts, skid steer, and loaders.
• Lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Learn assigned area which may include system check sheets, monitor reagent levels, and assist in all areas.
• Operate ADR facilities as required.
• Work safely and in accordance with Kinross’ safety standards.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

This job is to work in the Ore Processing department. This position will require training up to higher levels throughout the department as necessary while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. This will be a position in the Mill, Crusher or ADR plant areas depending on operator’s experience.

Essential Functions

• General clean up and labor duties in the Ore Processing facilities.
• May be required to operate small frontend loaders, forklifts, skid steer, and loaders.
• Lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday.
• Will be required to learn the area they are assigned to which may include:
  • Fill out system check sheets, monitor reagent levels, and assist in all areas.
  • Operate ADR facilities.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Ability to walk up, down and over rough terrain as well as climb stairways, catwalks, liner and pads.
• Ability to shovel up material.
• Ability to lift & carry up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Willing to train on other equipment.
• Previous experience operating small front-end loaders, dozers, and lifting equipment is preferred.
• Previous operator or labor experience is preferred.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of leaching, crushing, milling, and maintenance operations.
• Basic computer and technology skills.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
• Punctuality and regular attendance required.
• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Requires valid driver’s license.
