Job summary

Gold Coast JCB is seeking a Shop Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy machinery and related equipment for construction and industrial applications. You will work under the Service Manager to prioritize uptime and top-notch customer service.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with diesel or heavy equipment, bilingual English/Spanish, and strong diagnostic skills. Travel and accurate reporting are required, with a focus on safety and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Degree in diesel or technical field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years as service technician in heavy machinery or diesel engines.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and diagnostic skills.
• Willingness to travel and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic analysis, repair, or preventive maintenance for customer and company machines.
• Mentor and assist other technicians on complex jobs.
• Complete time/mission reports with clear notes and ensure billing accuracy.
• Maintain safety practices and keep tools and vehicles in good condition.
• Support product clinics, field days, and promotional events as needed.

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy machinery, aerial equipment, generators, and other equipment for construction, industrial, agricultural and government applications. Always providing the best customer service possible by focusing on customer uptime, utilizing Gold Coast JCB unique abilities as JCB authorized dealer in the territory.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

• Complete and turn in reports that capture all time and work completed, with clear notes.
• Provide diagnostic analysis, repair, or preventive maintenance for customer and company machines.
• Assist and work with other technicians on complicated jobs and when required.
• Ability to mentor, teach and advice other technicians.
• Complete system audits and evaluations on machines.
• Assists with customers product clinics, field days, and related promotional events as needed.
• Review work orders for completeness and accuracy, for Service Manager to be able to close and process billing.
• Keep Service Department tools, equipment and company vehicles in good working and safe conditions.
• Practice and adhere to all safety policies and training.
• Maintain a clean and professional image according to JCB and Gold Coast JCB standards.
• Conduct business in alignment with company’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• College degree in Diesel or Technical related field.
• Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of educational qualifications.
• 5+ years of experience as Service Technician or similar position, in a heavy machinery, truck, or diesel engine industry, with proven track record.
• Communicate by speech and hearing in person at basic English and Spanish proficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Knowledge of heavy machinery, generators, and truck or diesel engine industries.
• Strong computer skills to perform diagnostics, complete and submit reports, etc.
• Ability to travel.
• Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.

• Technical competence is a plus
• Must be customer service oriented, flexible, and have a high energy level

• Must be open to domestic and international travel

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk with frequent lifting, guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials and equipment for up to 12 hours.
• Ability to twist upper body frequently, bend at waist, kneel, crouch and negotiate uneven surfaces.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Use hands, arms and legs fully; grasp, manipulate and assemble small to large objects with the aid of forklifts or cranes as needed; see and hear well with or without aid.
• Must be able to perform continuous, repetitious physical activities. These activities may involve fine movements or large motions.
• Must be able to grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist.
• Must be capable of keeping pace with current production speed.
• Must be able to push/pull with reasonable force.
• Must be able to perform the following requirements of bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in multiple climates including hot/cold temperatures, and dusty environment.
• Communicate by speech and hearing in person at a basic English and Spanish proficiency.
