Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a mid-career software engineer for our Atlanta team to build scalable, modern platforms powering critical business services and cloud-based evolution. You will own end-to-end lifecycle from development to platform operations, including CLI tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

The role requires 3+ years of experience, strong Golang, and hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Golang.
• Experience developing and supporting applications in Linux/macOS environments.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including data structures, algorithms, system design, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience designing, building, or supporting distributed systems with a focus on scalability, performance, availability, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Git-based source control and modern development workflows (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
• Experience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines, platform engineering practices, and developer productivity tooling.
• Understanding of infrastructure and platform concepts, including networking, compute, storage, security, containers, and platform operations.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, and Kubernetes ecosystem tools.
• Experience building or integrating GraphQL APIs (types, queries, and mutations) in backend services.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Professional experience administering or developing with Bazel or other large-scale build systems.
• Experience with AI application development using modern LLM platforms, including agentic workflows, skills/tool definitions, prompt engineering, model evaluation, or integration with commercial and open-source AI models.
• Experience developing CLI tools and developer workflows.
• Experience creating or maintaining Kubernetes Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and custom controllers/operators.
• Experience troubleshooting complex build, deployment, or infrastructure-related issues across large distributed systems.
• Experience with developer platforms or internal engineering productivity initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, operate, and continuously improve platform engineering solutions.
• Own technical problems end-to-end, collaborating with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.
• Contribute to product and platform roadmaps with consideration for performance, reliability, observability, operability, and testability.
• Participate in root cause analysis, incident investigation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across internal systems and downstream dependencies, partnering with other teams when necessary.
• Follow established engineering standards, contribute to technical discussions, and provide constructive feedback to improve processes and tooling.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, accountability, and a growth mindset through continuous learning and collaboration.
