Job summary

Confidential Careers seeks a hands-on engineering leader to architect and scale our edge telemetry platform. You will drive production Go systems at scale, design with UML/C4/ArchiMate, and uphold SOLID and OWASP practices while mentoring a growing team.

You will partner with client and internal teams to translate requirements into robust solutions, implement edge and telemetry pipelines, and build scalable Kubernetes-based infrastructure with strong observability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering with hands-on production Go at scale.
• Direct expertise with IoT and OT telemetry protocols including SNMP, gNMI, NETCONF, syslog and MQTT.
• Proven ability to manage time-series data at scale using InfluxDB or similar platforms.
• Strong edge computing experience in constrained-runtime environments with limited resources.
• Deep Kubernetes production-scale experience and robust observability practices.
• Track record architecting high-volume data ingest pipelines with back-pressure, buffering and retries.
• Ability to adapt architectures to client/project demands and validate designs.
• Advanced system design skills using UML/C4/ArchiMate, design patterns, SOLID, OWASP.
• Demonstrated mentoring of engineers and influencing organizational decisions.
• Fluent English for collaboration with global teams; US citizen.

We are seeking a hands‑on engineering leader to architect and scale our edge telemetry platform. The ideal candidate balances deep distributed systems expertise with strong mentorship and the ability to translate client needs into robust technical solutions.

Core Technical Arsenal:

• Engineering Foundation: 7+ years of software engineering, anchored by deep expertise building production Go at scale. Strong system design skills using UML / C4 / ArchiMate, SOLID principles, and OWASP.
• Edge & Telemetry: Hands‑on mastery of IoT and OT protocols (SNMP, gNMI, NETCONF, syslog, MQTT) and experience deploying in constrained-runtime edge environments.
• Data Scale & Ingest: Proven success architecting high-volume ingest pipelines (implementing back‑pressure, buffering, and retry semantics) and running time‑series data at scale in InfluxDB or equivalent (handling high‑cardinality and downsampling).
• Infrastructure: Expert in operating Kubernetes at production scale, complemented by custom‑designed observability practices (metrics, tracing, structured logging, alerting).

Leadership & Delivery

• Technical Direction: Independently steers the team's architectural decisions, repository management, and code quality from concept to deployment.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Serves as the primary technical liaison to client DCIM and infrastructure teams, while partnering seamlessly with downstream Data Services to maintain strict system boundaries.
• Mentorship: Actively levels up the engineering team through code reviews, Agile process leadership, and driving Communities of Practice (CoPs).

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering background, featuring hands‑on experience with production Go at scale.
• Direct expertise with IoT and OT telemetry protocols: SNMP, gNMI or other streaming telemetry, NETCONF, syslog, and MQTT.
• Proven ability to manage time‑series data at scale using InfluxDB (or similar platforms), specifically handling data retention, downsampling, and cardinality management.
• Strong background in edge computing and constrained-runtime environments where network, CPU, and memory resources are limited and system failures are anticipated.
• Deep expertise operating Kubernetes at production scale, alongside comprehensive observability practices (custom alerting, structured logging, tracing, and metrics).
• Track record of architecting high-volume data ingest pipelines that incorporate graceful degradation, retry semantics, buffering, and back‑pressure mechanisms.
• Ability to adapt overarching architectural designs to specific client and project demands, with a strong capability to validate implemented architectures.
• Advanced system design skills utilizing UML / C4 / ArchiMate.
• Strong grasp of design patterns, architectural styles, SOLID principles, and OWASP.
• Demonstrated history of guiding and mentoring fellow engineers and organizational decision‑makers.
• Fluent English communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
• Must be US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background working within critical‑infrastructure monitoring, industrial environments, data centers, or DCIM.
• Proficiency in Python for operational scripting, tooling, and data manipulation.
• Capacity to define overarching technical roadmaps and guide execution across multiple teams or entire product lines.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and cloud native applications.
• Proven success in safely modernizing or dismantling legacy systems without disrupting ongoing operations.
• Skill in clarifying technical details and defining the "definition of done" to translate internal/external product needs into actionable user stories and tasks.
