Minimum rate of pay: $31.68 PLUS Daily PAY
Position Purpose:

The 9E Progressive Care Unit: Pulmonary disease, renal disease, DM, Chemical dependency, and multi-system organ diseases in a progressive care setting.

Provides quality patient-centered care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs through competent clinical practice and application of the nursing process. Integrates concepts of relationship-based care into practice. Serves as a clinical and educational resource to others on the unit. Assumes accountability for nursing care of designated patients. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies.

Shifts Available: Day, Evening, and Night Shifts
Status: Full time, Part time. Every other weekend and holiday work required for full-time and part-time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. New hires as of 1/1/12 must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain one within the specified timeframe.

Licensure: Current Michigan Nursing License required.

Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain one within five years of hire or transfer.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age-specific needs.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with coworkers, patients, and families.
  • Critical thinking skills for performing nursing duties.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail.

  • Gather and analyze patient information.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans.
  • Use teach-back methodology to educate patients and families.
  • Seek to prevent hospital-acquired conditions.
  • Communicate patient status, goals, and interventions during rounds and handoffs.
  • Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Behave in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals.
