POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates behavior intervention services for students within GNETS. Works with GNETS staff members and all stakeholders to promote various methods of implementing behavior modification strategies and collecting appropriate data. This position reports to the Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs, implements, and monitors progress of behavioral management programs for students.
2. Participates in the development of individual educational programs for students.
3. Participates as a team member in the evaluation of student progress.
4. Provides developmental therapy support to the Autism Program.
5. Plans and confers with instructional staff concerning behavioral, social, and developmental needs of students.
6. Develops and conducts in-service activities regarding behavior modification techniques that address behavioral, social, and developmental deficits.
7. Assists instructional staff with the development of FBA (Functional Behavioral Assessments) and implementation of BIP (Behavior Intervention Plans).
8. Assists in updating reports such as IEP present levels of performance, IEP goals and objectives, and Exit Criteria to inform parents of student progress.
9. Completes reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies.
10. Participates as a team member in referring students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to appropriate community agencies through the LIPT and RIPT processes.
11. Liaises with other state and metro agencies, as well as private/public schools and institutions to continually enhance and promote maximum behavior intervention programs, methods, and strategies for students.
12. All other duties, as assigned and required, to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master’s degree in an educational-related field required.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience within an area of special education required.
3. Experience in the development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) required.
4. Prior experience coordinating behavior intervention programs in a K-12 public school environment; makes decisions and final recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others.
5. Georgia Professional Certification at Teaching – 5 (T-5) required.
6. Moderate level of judgment: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions.
7. Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
8. Requires frequent contact with external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
9. Requires excellent presentation, written, and verbal skills.
10. Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of data collection; must be proficient with computers.
11. May require travel to off-site locations and school site visits.
