SUMMARY:
It is the primary responsibility of the Bartender to greet guests, mix and serve drinks, and maintain the cleanliness of the bar. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy, and Positivity).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain uniform appearance according to established guidelines.
  2. Know locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services available to guests.
  3. Communicate professionally and courteously when interacting with guests and fellow co-workers.
  4. Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome.
  5. Follow established procedures for comps.
  6. Use suggestive selling techniques.
  7. Anticipate guests’ needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  8. Prepare and serve cocktails to servers or guests.
  9. Bid farewell to guests, using their name when known, and encourage them to return.
  10. Clean and organize the bar to Beverage Department standards.
  11. Prepare orders to replenish stock at the bar to pre-determined par levels.
  12. Inform Apprentice Bartender or Bar Porter of needed supplies.
  13. Ensure that all bar items and supplies on-hand are accounted for and secure throughout the shift.
  14. Input orders correctly into the Aloha P.O.S. system.
  15. Handle money in accordance with Beverage Department policies and procedures.
  16. Pick up cash bank at the beginning of shift and return it at the end of shift.
  17. Balance cash bank at the end of shift.
  18. Assist with maintaining a neat, clean, and safe working environment.
  19. Perform station turnover/takeover according to established procedures.
  20. Relay all guest compliments and complaints to the manager on duty.
  21. Comply with all Health Department regulations while performing duties.
  22. Adhere to policies, procedures, and liquor laws.
  23. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, especially those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
  • Working knowledge of the characteristics and descriptions of wines, champagne, and major wines on the list.
  • Knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation methods, and garnishes for each drink.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Documentation of successful completion of the Bartenders Local 165 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and passing the craft exam related to the program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a bar or similar environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar resort setting preferred.
