Job summary

Specter Aerospace, based in Boston and Peabody, MA, is seeking a GNC Engineer I/II to support design and analysis of high-speed airbreathing testbeds. The role focuses on developing and validating GNC algorithms for hypersonic flight, building 6DOF simulations in C++, and aiding transition from development to flight.

The candidate will collaborate with modeling and simulation teams, work in a classified environment, and must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 0–3 years of relevant full-time experience.
• Experience developing modeling and simulation tools, including 6DOF simulations.
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support development of 6DOF simulations using C++.
• Design and evaluate GNC algorithms for high-speed airbreathing vehicles.
• Perform GNC analyses to assess flight performance.
• Develop SWIL/HWIL capabilities to aid in design, analysis, and verification of high-speed systems.
• Support trajectory optimization and analysis (3DOF/6DOF).
• Coordinate with the modeling and simulation team for survivability analyses in a classified setting.
• Other duties as assigned by the company.
