Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced GNC Engineer for the Starshield Attitude Determination and Control System. You will contribute to spacecraft attitude dynamics, navigation filtering, and control algorithm development to support Starshield missions.

The role spans software, hardware interfaces, and testing within a high-impact, fast-paced environment. You will work on high-fidelity 6DOF simulations, HITL testing, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure mission success and system-level

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science/software engineering, or an engineering discipline.
• Software development experience in C++, Python, and/or MATLAB/Simulink
• Experience with attitude determination and/or state estimation algorithms

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of satellite GNC software across all mission phases.
• Design CONOPs balancing thermal/power/momentum, and payload pointing needs.
• Develop flight GNC software to achieve autonomy and fault tolerance.
• Update GNC configurations for design revisions and mission sets.
• Perform high fidelity 6DOF modeling and simulation of dynamics and sensors.
• Conduct Monte Carlo simulations to validate flight safety and performance.
• Lead HITL testing efforts including test case design and data review.
• Design navigation filtering and control systems; optimize performance.
• Assist spacecraft ADCS hardware sizing and layout.
• Develop and refine complex sensor/actuator/dynamics models for 6DOF analyses.
• Maintain interfaces with thermal, power, and comms for system-level coherence
