Job Title: GME Program Coordinator - Plastic Surgery Residency

We are seeking a GME Program Coordinator to provide crucial support for our Plastic Surgery Residency, which currently has 12 residents. This team member will manage various operations of the residency, including logistics for recruitment. Healthcare experience highly preferred.

The GME Department Program Coordinator coordinates and supports graduate and undergraduate functions with program directors and/or Senior Program Coordinator to ensure programs remain in good standing with VCU Health Systems Graduate Medical Education (GME) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Under the oversight and direction of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator is an administrative partner responsible for the operations of the residency/fellowship training program, whether accredited or non-accredited. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of national accreditation policies and hospital policies.

The responsibilities may include recruiting trainees, conducting trainee evaluations, analyzing administrative workflows, prioritizing tasks, managing projects to meet deadlines, report compilation, database maintenance, and facilitating program relations and communications both externally and internally to ensure all parties are aware of important deadlines.

The Program Coordinator may also serve as the primary liaison with the Office of Graduate Medical Education, the School of Medicine Curriculum Office, and the ACGME, coordinating activities with students, residents, fellows, program directors, and the Vice Chair for Education.

Qualifications
  • Licensure, Certification, or Registration: N/A
  • Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year in program or project management, preferably supporting an accredited education program. Experience with computers and software applications such as New Innovations, email, calendaring, Microsoft Office, and web-based databases.
  • Experience PREFERRED: Minimum of 3 years supporting ACGME-accredited GME programs. Experience with New Innovations, GME Tracking, Kronos, and ACGME Milestones.
  • Education/Training REQUIRED: High School Diploma
  • Education/Training PREFERRED: TAGME Certification or Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with learners, faculty, staff, and external contacts.
